![]() ![]() Capela averaged more than 35 minutes in December and played 35 or more minutes five games in a row before Christmas. If I could send a message to GM Daryl Morey, it would be to monitor Clint Capela’s minutes a little more closely. However, until James Harden and Russell Westbrook start gelling better, I’m afraid that winning a single playoff series could be Houston’s ceiling. If they find a way to extract the best out of Harden and Russ, they’ll be a formidable foe in the spring.Įric Gordon has returned after missing 23 games with a knee injury, which gives Mike D’Antoni’s second unit a massive boost. Still, Harden was able to get them a playoff spot almost alone last year, so the Rockets should compete in the postseason once again. We don’t have an answer yet, as the Rockets are probably the most unpredictable team in the West in the upcoming 2019-20 season. The big question is if these ball-dominant players will find a way to cooperate on the court. The former OKC franchise name is an old buddy of Harden and both claim they will relish the opportunity to play together. It seems the Rockets’ front office agrees with our assessment which is why Chris Paul was traded for Russell Westbrook. The Warriors won’t be the same, but there are a bunch of teams that should be better than the Rockets and most of them are in the West. And we don’t think this will change in 2019-2020. I believe that a Conference Final is the ceiling for the Rockets in the 2019-20 NBA season.Īfter failing to beat the Warriors once again last season, it seems like the CP3 and Harden combo simply is not strong enough to win an NBA Championship. The two franchise from LA, the Nuggets, and the Jazz might be better when it matters the most. Both players are not exactly on fire during the playoffs and this could be an issue against a number of teams in the West. The big question here is what happens next. In fact, they could very well earn one of the higher seeds in the stacked Western Conference, thanks to Harden and Westbrook alone. With two former MVPs that are extremely dominant in the regular season, the Houston Rockets should comfortably qualify for the playoffs. Prediction: 50-55 wins and troubles in the playoffs.
